The “Rigoberto Rodrigo Lopez” Baseball Stadium opens its gates.

The stadium hosted its inaugural games on September 27th, 28th, and 29th, after two years of construction. It featured a thrilling series of three matches between the Venezuelan and Nicaraguan national teams.

The Rigoberto Lopez Stadium can accommodate nearly 7,200 guests and offers close to 500 parking spaces. Additionally, it features TV and radio broadcast booths, along with an automated irrigation system to maintain its landscaping. This development aims to enhance the quality of life for the people of León and attract foreign investment to the region.

“Today is a momentous occasion as we inaugurate this beautiful gem—a dream realized. What could be more fitting than to name it after our national hero, Rigoberto López Pérez, the revolutionary poet and writer who played a pivotal role in ending the Somoza dictatorship,” stated Guisella Lacayo, Mayor of León.
