We are proud to announce that January 2018 sees the completion of our most impressive home yet at Playa Tesoro. Casa Verde is home #8 in the Playa Tesoro beach community, featuring a second floor deck with wet bar and great patio furniture. This deck offers an outstanding view onto the surf break, sea turtles nesting and miles of unihabited beach directly in front of the home.
In the aerial picture above, Casa Verde is on the extreme right side. We have also included substantial landscaping on the lot with interesting types of plants, fencing and 700 feet of stone walkways. The landscaping features a 960 piece canterra walkway parallel to the beach through the forest, to allow a peaceful walk from Casa Verde to the restaurant. The eucalyptus fencing offers a wind break for the palm trees to root and grow.

December 16 2017 sees the completion of the second major road upgrade in the year 2017 on the route from the Pan American highway to Playa Tesoro on the Pacific Ocean. The final serious hurdle to large scale success on this 7 mile beach is road quality. After 14 years we still have nothing but talk from the government, whose responsibilty it is to build community roads. Hopefully, some public money will go to the Salinas Grandes road soon to help pull this area into prosperity. Meanwhile, Playa Tesoro pushes on with road and sign projects in sections.
The circled area on the map is the 700 meter section that we have been working on from September 14 to December 14 2017. This section was low and was a pool for water from the fields on all sides for 4 months a year, making it underwater. It is also the most direct route from the Salinas Grandes road to the small island bridge. We call this the Los Lirios road. This complete project is to raise much of this 700 meter road by 5 feet with rock, and create a 12 month, 4 minute, smooth ride from the Salinas road to the island bridge. We have now removed the need to drive the worst 22 minute section of road, and the source of all stuck cars and road access complaints from our clients. A high ground clearance 2 wheel drive is suggested now. No longer is a 4 x4 required to access our community.
May 2017 saw the four beach cabana construction projects moving along swiftly. Also, the re designed, standard Tesoro beach home has been changed into a 2 storey beachfront home with a roof top deck. We are proud of the results:
Production is up dramatically in year 3 of operations This year we are hitting over 2000 babies per day as an upper limit. Very impressive!
The hatching season runs from October to February each year. This is a life changing experience for many. A real thrill for all ages.
March 2017 saw the completion of the Stone Pier to act as the entrance to the Floating Wood Dock and Walkway Ramp for the Marina. This type of boat launch is very common in North America, but never seen in Nicaragua, to our knowledge. Yet another first at Playa Tesoro.
This stone pier provides a secure point to attach a walkway ramp from the pier to the floating Dock. The floating dock is in production. Once in the river, the floating dock is a landing for the water taxi, and other Tesoro boats, to tie up. Thus, allowing the clients to not get their feet in the river when arriving on the water taxi from Puerto Sandino. But, also the backbone of a marina for permanent boat storage on the river, only 50 minutes from your home in Managua.
We have an immense range of activity options over this 8 day adventure, with excellent yoga instruction, massage, food, tours and fun in the exploding touristic area of Leon.
February 2017 sees work continue on the internal road system of the sprawling community at Playa Tesoro Beach development in Leon Departmento, Nicaragua. With over 3 miles of internal roads, stretched over 300 acres, this road work will continue for some time.
July 2017 sees the completion of two funky beach homes at Playa Tesoro: Tesoro lot #28 beach cabana, and Tesoro lot #37 beach cabana. Each cabana features a queen size bed, toilet/sink, exterior shower, excellent wifi, and the swim friendly Pacific ocean outside the door. All nestled within the secure, closed community of Playa Tesoro of 8 homes and 3 pools, sitting on 200 acres of property and 2 miles of ocean beach. Truly a lovely blend of comfort, space and beauty.
Each of these beach cabanas is beside a beach house with more substantial construction features such as a/c, full kitchen and pool. The concept is a travelling group can rent this cabana, or can also rent the beach house about 15 feet away. This gives the flexibilty of 3 queen beds spread over 3 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, ac, pool and restaurant. All for $120 a night. That is $40 a night for the cabana and $80 a night for the house. This is a good option for a family of 5 or more.

Other Playa Tesoro project updates are: 1. The ocean fence of 2,000 linear feet with 20 gates is complete. This was neccessary to keep wild horses off the 4 acre parcel that is scheduled for landscaping.
2. The farm and nursery are expanding. We have added ducks, chickens, more horses, and pigs. The farm is growing all sorts of fruit and vegetables that we serve at the restaurant.
3. The boat shop has new steel bar doors to secure our ever growing inventory of tools and equipment.
4. The full time mechanic at Tesoro is settling into the task of maintaining the 4 vehicles, 5 motor bikes, atv, 3 boats, 10 a/c units, and 2 swimming pools. Not a glamour filled chore, but very important.
5. The internet service tower installed almost one year ago continues to impress and runs very well.
6. The most ambitious house and pool to be constructed at Playa Tesoro to date continues to move forward. We are laying the second floor deck now. This is the first home to feature a second floor and to show off the wonderful ocean view. We will rent this home starting in January 2018.
7. The Yoga area continues to develop with the cement subfloor finished and painted.
January 2017 saw the complete installation of a new wifi tower and strong internet service to each of the 6 Tesoro homes.
