May 2017 saw the four beach cabana construction projects moving along swiftly. Also, the re designed, standard Tesoro beach home has been changed into a 2 storey beachfront home with a roof top deck. We are proud of the results:
March 2017 saw the completion of the Stone Pier to act as the entrance to the Floating Wood Dock and Walkway Ramp for the Marina. This type of boat launch is very common in North America, but never seen in Nicaragua, to our knowledge. Yet another first at Playa Tesoro.
This stone pier provides a secure point to attach a walkway ramp from the pier to the floating Dock. The floating dock is in production. Once in the river, the floating dock is a landing for the water taxi, and other Tesoro boats, to tie up. Thus, allowing the clients to not get their feet in the river when arriving on the water taxi from Puerto Sandino. But, also the backbone of a marina for permanent boat storage on the river, only 50 minutes from your home in Managua.
The island community continues to grow at an astonishing pace. In October 2016, there were 4 house starts to add to the 29 existing homes on the island. 5 years ago, there were no homes at all. Three full time couples now live on the island beach. And the fourth full time group are the Playa Tesoro staff. One fun loving, full time couple are in the second year of a well run turtle hatchery. Approximately 12,000 eggs are in the sacks hatching that are collected from the beaches of the island. Each night at 5pm, the various renters and owners along the beach gather at the hatchery and see over 200 baby sea turtles be released into the Pacifc Ocean. A real treat.
Work continues on the internal road system of the sprawling community at Playa Tesoro Beach development in Leon Departmento, Nicaragua. With over 3 miles of internal roads, stretched over 300 acres, this road work will continue for some time.
In November 2016, 8 years after beginning this project, we are very proud to announce that the final connections for the Playa Tesoro community water system are complete. Both the Primary water system supplying the development from over 17 kilometer of pipeline, and the emergency supply tank on the Playa Tesoro property are fully operating. The main tank of 20,000 gallons was moved onto its concrete base a few days ago. The emergency tank of 10,000 gallons was hooked into the main line and stands ready for any interuption in supply from the main tank. This is an excellent, private water supply of perfect drinking water.
January 2017 saw the complete installation of a new wifi tower and strong internet service to each of the 6 Tesoro homes.
In November 2016, we are well past half way on the marina project at Playa Tesoro. With the completion of this work shop and boat storage facility, 3 boats, and the operating water taxi we are in good shape to finish up with the dock and slips in mid 2017. In this 16 foot high, 2 bay workshop we will store several boats and operate a motor maintenance service.
Having just purchased 3 boats in October 2016, we are ready to provide reliable water taxi service from Playa Tesoro to Puerto Sandino. The pick up point is beside the port entrance. Please whats app to 1 604 720 4484 for pickup. A free service for Playa Tesoro guests, this service offers an easy, economical route to access the Playa Tesoro community. Boat #1 is a 23 foot panga, seating 15 people with a 40 hp outboard. Boat #2 is the 18 foot fiberglass hull vessel pictured below, seating 7 people with center console, and a 90 hp outboard. Boat #3 is a 14 foot panga with comfortable seating for 6 and a 15 hp outboard.
Either of these 3 boats will collect clients in Puerto Sandino beside the port facility, and ferry them 4.4 kilometers up the pristine, beautifully natural Tamarindo river to the dock at Playa Tesoro. A fantastic boat ride on its own!
Every sizeable beach development needs a statement in the front gate of the grounds. The intended statement at Playa Tesoro is " Welcome to a friendly place where locals and foreigners can mingle and enjoy healthy relationships". October 2016 saw the crew finishing up phase 1 of the Playa Tesoro community entrance wall.
